Happy New Year DC!! The future is now and we are excited that this year marks the beginning of a new decade. We hope that your holiday season was joyful, prosperous, and filled with love - and for those who enjoy tech-enabled devices, we have something for you. Advances in technology have allowed us to provide valuable resources to District creatives and the #EntertainDC Office is happy to share how we are serving you in
this digital age!
To kick the year off, we're excited to announce that District residents in all 8 Wards have access to even more of our programs and services at the touch of their fingertips! We announced that the DC Government's first radio station, DC Radio 96.3HD4, launched its new DCRadio mobile app in December. The DC Radio app connects listeners with new content on the go like "Soul Wealth Radio" with host, Dr. Vikki Johnson, and "Choppin' It Up With Chook" hosted by, Antone' Chooky Caldwell! Now, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the EntertainDC mobile app! This mobile app is one of the many ways the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment leverages modern technology to connect and support the District's creative community. We encourage all District professionals in the film, TV, and music industries to download the app and register for workforce development and to explore potential employment opportunities. Thanks to the help of OCTFME's own, Adrienne Picciotto and Levern Hamer, the Entertain DC app is now available on
Washingtonians can also hear their favorite DC Radio shows on SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, GooglePlay, Spotify, iHeart Radio, and TuneIn.com. The #EntertainDC Office continues to provide District residents with
on-demand access to DCN and DKN television shows on Youtube as well as DC Council hearings on our website. Stay tuned as we create more ways to bring you the content you love to your favorite digital platforms.
The #EntertainDC digital brand is dynamic, thanks to our amazing Communications team. We recently received our verified badge from Instagram for our @entertain_dc account. Our verified account on Instagram signifies that OCTFME's brand is authentic, as opposed to a “fan page” or “tribute account.” With the unwavering support of Mayor Muriel Bowser, our team works hard to provide District creatives with important resources via our social media platforms and this recognition solidifies that we are a trusted source of information. Thank you Akua Tay, Michael Mitchell, Kiera Bell and Faye Hyslop for continuing to keep District creatives well-informed.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Chuck West as our January 2020 Filmmaker of the Month! Chuck West is a nationally accomplished producer in the worlds of Broadway and urban theater as well as the film industry. This year marks Chuck’s thirtieth year of experience with production and financial expertise in the entertainment industry. A former college basketball star who had the foresight to earn his degree in Finance with a concentration in Accounting from American University, West started his career as a financier and partner, producing the landmark plays of the acclaimed playwright, film writer and director, David E. Talbert. This partnership catapulted the duo into the forefront of mainstream urban theater, where the young producer quickly became the industry’s standout leader specializing in the urban market. In 1994, Chuck launched WestVision Entertainment, which subsequently evolved into Octet Productions in 2015, a trendsetter in the world of urban film and theater production. Through the years, Octet has produced 6 projects. It’s first projects were theatrical productions entitled, “You Can’t Hurry Love” (starring LaTarsha Rose, Essence Atkins, Richard Brooks and Victoria Rowell) and “Addicted To You” (starring Letoya Luckett, Brely Evans and Thomas Q. Jones) to name a few. Chuck West has over twenty film credits and ensures that there is commitment to education for students around the District of Columbia. In FY18, the #EntertainDC Office launched a creative economy job training support program in partnership with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 22. The program provides District residents financial subsidies to defray the costs of IASTE technical training classes. It also offers District resident IASTE members the opportunity to acquire the professional certifications required to rise up the IATSE classification tier. In turn, members can qualify for higher paying jobs and therefore pave a pathway to the middle class. On the first Thursday of each month, come out for IATSE's Open House located at the Local 22 office in Washington, DC. For more information, click HERE.
